Town Council Duties
The following duties have been placed upon the Council by the several statutes which are:
Crime and Disorder Act 1998 Section 17
The Town Council has a duty to consider the impact of all their functions
and decisions on crime and disorder in their local area. This Council will constantly review how they exercise these powers and deliver
their services in order to comply with this duty when making observations in planning applications, managing their functions and
advising members of the public.
Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000
The Town Council has a general duty placed upon it by the Race Relations
(Amendment) Act 2000 to ensure within its functions and policies to have
due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, promote equality
of opportunity and promote racial equality between people of different racial groups.
Freedom Of Information Act 2000
This Town Council has agreed to publish the following information in accordance with section 20 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000:
1. Council internal practice and procedure
2. Code of conduct
3. Periodic electoral review
4. Employment practice and procedure
5. Planning documents
6. Audit and accounts
7. Development and implementation of policy
8. Byelaws
9. Council circulars/newsletters
10. Arts, entertainment and tourist information
11. The Authority’s Performance Plan

Equal Opportunities
In keeping with the Council’s aims and objectives, the principles
of Equal Opportunities are recognized. It is the Council’s responsibility
to create an environment where all individuals can fulfil their potential
and where equality of opportunity is actively promoted.
Dawlish Town Council will not discriminate on grounds of race, colour, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, belief marital status, age, disability or sexual orientation. The Council will actively counteract prejudice and will, where appropriate, challenge imbalance.
The Dawlish Town Council will ensure that the Equal Opportunities Policy is consistently applied. All Council members and staff have a personal responsibility for its implementation.
As local government evolves and develops further, it is likely that the range of directly provided functions will expand.

and to take appropriate security measures to safeguard personal data and prevent any unauthorised access to it.
