Town Council Staffing
The Town Council employs four full-time staff (Town Clerk, Administration Officers and Waterfowl Warden) and two part-time staff (Administration Assistant and Relief Waterfowl Warden/Parish Maintainer).
The Authority is also fortunate that they are able to call upon a cadre of volunteer members of staff who assist with waterfowl feeding.
The main responsibilities are as follows:
The Town Clerk is responsible for the overall management of the Council’s work, advising the Council and ensuring its decisions are carried out. The Clerk is responsible for all the Council’s legal, financial and administrative affairs. The Clerk is contracted for 37 hours a week and evening meetings as required.
Administration Officers are responsible for the efficient and effective day to day running of the office. The Administration Officers have primary responsibility for specific areas of the Council’s work and work 37 hours per week and on occasion extra hours by arrangement.
The Administration Assistant supports the Administration Officers.
The Waterfowl Warden is responsible for the care and welfare of the black swans and other ornamental fowl found in the brook on the lawn and Manor House Gardens. The Warden also conducts other duties as required by the authority and is contracted for 37 hours per week over seven days.
The Relief Waterfowl Warden/Parish Maintainer carries out duties throughout the parish on footpaths, play areas etc.
Contracted-out services - The Council employs local contractors to provide grounds maintenance and cleaning services, professional personnel for internal audit and building surveys.
