just spent a day in Dawlish for the first time. Liked the town but felt the need to remark upon:
poor state of the railway footbridge (the railway is a fine feature of the town - enhance it)
too many pigeons
weed in river detracts from another nice feature

Having recently passed through Dawlish for the first time ever, and stopped a few hours, I felt a desire to comment on the railway eyesores.
I find it difficult to believe that the Town Council has allowed those responsible to get away with allowing the station and viaduct to deteriorate so badly, especially as they form such a focal point in the town! I note that some work is being started in September - too late for this holiday season!

I'm looking for an old friend who will be about 50 years old now.Her name was Tracey Patrick (perhaps she's married now?)She moved to Dawlish Warren in 1974/75 from Chesham,Buckinghamshire. She had a sister. Her parents owned a very old fashioned sweet shop(wooden counters and floor) and they lived above it,can't remember the address now. They loved horses too if that rings any bells !If anyone knows her perhaps you could ask her to contact me via Facebook...Vanessa Robinson(nee...Gilbert)as i would love to catch up with her! Thanks

Thought I'd be the first to put something in this year. Hope that the newly elected council make some of the decisions necessary to re-invigorate this fast declining town. Good luck to you all.

Your site is very good. Been going to Dawlish on and off for thirty-nine years. Got lovely memories (my Gran lived in Exeter). Introduced the place to my boyfriend and he fell in love with it. I live in Leeds, but if I won the lottery I would be in Dawlish to buy a house before the ink had even dried on the cheque.

Having been ejected from the Finance and General Purposes Committee 18th May 2006. I was pleased to have witnessed first hand Totalitarian Democracy. I live to fight another day.
The author was asked to leave a Town Council committee meeting as his behaviour became disruptive to proceedings on 18 May 2006.

I lived at 52 High Street Dawlish, moved to Tresco, Shutterton Lane, then to Australia in 1955. Great to see the old town, still in its glory, but what a shame that Dawlish Warren has been violated. I guess that's progress, but I prefer to remember it as it was in its natural state before the pie stalls took over. I had a paper round in Dawlish, starting from Boons newsagency in The Strand, which I completed before catching the train to Exeter St David, thence to Exeter tec' on the Honiton bypass. I believe the school no longer exists.
Great to relive my younger years through your site, I've enjoyed the journey. No, I've never returned to England and I doubt that, at 66, I ever will, but the memories of Dawlish and The Warren are strong. Thanks for a great site.

I used to visit Dawlish as a young girl with my family and loved to go back every year. The last time I went down there was 3 years ago and it had hardly changed. I remember sitting on the station with my dad while he spotted trains! We had a self catering flat right next to the railway line and it was exciting to see and hear the trains at night. I hope to visit either this year or next year, but now have a dog and find it difficult to accommodate him.

This is an excellent example of how to establish a web site. Well set out, ample information, concise where necessary. I looked at your site to seek an example of how one should appear, as we at Lostwithiel are about to embark on the creation of our own site.

I work for a language organisation in Lyon, France. We have a language school in Dawlish for children aged 11 to 17. I find your site very informative, pretty and interesting. I automatically give this site address to the parents who send their children to Dawlish so they can see where their child will be staying.
